A Bad Case of Stripes - David Shannon

Brief Review:

A bad case of the stripes is about a little girl who cared deeply of what others thought about her, so much so she refused to eat her favorite food lima beans because everyone else thought they were gross and not any good. But in the end, she realizes its not what others think about her or what she likes has nothing to do with those who are around her, its what she likes.

Idea of how it can be used in a classroom:

A bad case of the stripes could be used in the classroom by seeing how the students feel about themselves and how the view themselves because of others. The teacher could have the students write about a time where they were scared to do something because others thought badly of it or when they felt like they were different from everyone else.

Book Rating:

I would rate this book a 5 because it shows that no matter what others think of something if you like it, there’s nothing wrong with it. And its okay to be a little different from the rest.
